3. Download both updates

4. Download the Standalone patch

5. Extract the Left 4 Dead 2 Rip to your  'C:/Program Files' folder 

  (If you are on a 64bit machine, then 'C:/Program Files(x86)') 

6. Open the L4D2UP_2.0.1.6.exe  

-Follow the installation steps and when prompted, point it to 'C:/Program Files/Left 4 Dead 2' (Or where you chose to place your l4d2 rip) 

7. Do the same thing for 'L4D2IUP 2.0.1.6-2.0.1.7.exe' and 'L4D2IUP 2.0.1.7-2.0.1.8.exe' 

8. Run the 'L4D2SP_T10.3.exe' standalone patch 

9. In the Left 4 Dead 2 folder, open the 'REGFIX' folder, and then run the registry key for your computer type. 32bit systems run x86. 64bit systems run x64 

You're now ready to play the game! Just click the 'left4dead2.exe'

Running a Lan Server:

That's easy: You just need Hamachi. Create your own or join an existing network (your friend's). 

Keep the Hamachi running and enter the game. In the console ( that button right above TAB, under Esc) 

and type your Hamachi's IP. For example: ip x.xxx.xxx.xxx 

Then type "sv_consistency 0" and choose a map (just type "map" and you'll see them). 

That's it, you can start the game. 

That was for the host - the host must do this every time you want to play. Now for the client: 

In the console type "connect" and insert host's IP address and that's all, you can join the game now.
